Our Story

It all started with a few cold drinks at a bar in Key West. Sitting there watching the boats roll in, tourists strolling by, and kids playing in the distance, it hit us: the coastal lifestyle is about so much more than just boating, fishing, and surfing. Yes, we love a day out on the water — but the bulk of it happens on land. It’s sun-drenched days at the beach with family, lively nights at the bar with the crew, and easy backyard get-togethers where stories flow and memories are made. It’s eating at a beachside restaurant with friends, enjoying live music under string lights, and enjoying a bonfire under the stars. And most of all hanging out in the sand — whether it’s reading a book, sunbathing, hunting for shells and shark teeth, watching a breathtaking sunset, or going big with a full family beach day full of games, sandcastles, drinks, and food. The coastal lifestyle is so much more than the water. That moment in Key West sparked something real. We realized the clothing industry was telling only part of the story — all the “saltwater,” fishing, boating, and surfing brands were all you see. But it was missing everything else we love about our favorite beach towns: the beach, yes, but the barstools, the hammocks, and just the simple joy of being together. So, we set out to create more than just clothing. We wanted to build a community that celebrates the full coastal life — the side everyone knows and loves but doesn’t always get the spotlight. At Land Pirate, we design bold, comfortable apparel that stands out from the ordinary: it’s the graphic tees we all know and wear. We get them wet, sweaty, dressed up or down, snapback hats that go the distance, UPF hoodies for sun protection, and soft cotton sweatshirts perfect for those cool nights when the sun goes down. We’re not here to reinvent the wheel — we’re here to represent the full coastal lifestyle thorugh bold and unique designs. We started small, hitting the road and setting up at local events: food festivals, music festivals, BBQ competitions, parades, town fairs, and farmers markets. We’ve traveled the East Coast from Newport, RI, to CMA Fest in Nashville, Gasparilla Pirate Fest in Tampa, and of course back down to the Keys — because who doesn’t love the Keys? And we’ve grown far past our original goals.  We’re everyday people — no one special, just folks who love enjoying Earth’s beauty and the amazing people in it. We believe in cherishing life’s simple blessings and showing up exactly as we are.

"Later down the road of life, I made the discovery that salt water was also good for the mental abrasions one inevitably acquires on  land"

- Jimmy Buffet
